The weekends to come, of course, still are reserved for camping-nights close by, and longer hikes, with our newly purchased backpack. By splash diving into the role of a dog-parent, also a complete new space of things to research and shop opened up to me. I'm sorry this first entry of this blog is so doggy-style.
My 5 favorites of June
Dometic Cadac 2 Cook Turbo Deluxe
CHF 169.50 / EUR 169.50
Status: ordered and happy with it
Cooking is a main part of most of our camping trips, and since our beloved Camper's engine blew up, we're travelling in a Renault Kangoo 4x4, where space is quite limited.
For a full meal in our style at least two flames are required and packabilty was key at the research. At a visit at Overland-Outiftters, i discovered the Dometic Cadac 2 Cook Turbo Deluxe.
"Are you looking for a reliable camping stove? Then the 2 Cook 3 Pro Deluxe is just what you need! With its automatic piezo ignition and two independent burners, it's the perfect companion for your next camping trip."
We were especially stoked by the plancha and frying pan that are included, and perfectly fit below the stove in the packaging.
Ruffwear Hitch-Hiker Backpack
CHF 129.90 / EUR 144.90
Status: Ordered, not tested yet.
With a pup, of actually 12 weeks, hikes and walk happen in super slow-motion, if you don't want to trigger a zoomie of your furry nose, after roughly 15 minutes.
The hitch-hiker backpack, as the name indicates, is the possibility of your little friend to pause and ride shotgun on your back.
"Share even more adventures with your canine sidekick with the Hitch Hiker™ Dog Backpack Carrier – a lightweight, technical dog carrier designed so dogs can hitch a ride when needed. The dual locking zippers create a wide opening for easy loading and unloading between trail time and backpack time. Once in the pack, the integrated harness keeps dogs secure and allows them to get comfortable and face forward to see the trail ahead."
Pakboat PakCanoe 160
CHF 1999 / EUR 2490
Status: research/testing soon
As surfing and MTB family trips on the weekend, fall away, and our rubber kayak is too small for two persons, day-packs, and a dog. Also, Dog claws may not be the best idea if you don't want to sink the boat within minutes. By researching for an alternative, I fell in love with Pakboat's PakCanoes.
"The PakCanoe 160 is the perfect all-rounder. At 4.90 meters in length, it offers plenty of space for two people and enough cargo capacity to carry gear for a two- or three-week expedition. At the same time, it’s equally well-suited for a relaxed day trip on a lake, but also is well-suited for use in whitewater trips up to Class III."
Packed, it weighs roughly 24 kg and measures only 90 cm x 43 cm x 33 cm. Setup-time given by the reseller is 30 min to 45 min, and can be done by one person alone.
